Timely Tidbits

Dancing With the Stars

Last night was another segment of Dancing With the Stars. We learned that Misti Mae Treanor will not be able to complete the season because she tore her Achilles tendon and will have surgery today to repair it. Cloris Leachman, bless her heart, continues to try but can't compete. Hopefully, she will be the next to go. In the past when a dancer has had to drop out unexpectedly, the show has given all of the remaining dancers a pass for that week -- meaning that no one was voted off, but votes accumulated for two weeks. With Misti Mae taking the out for everyone else, it may turn out that no one else will go tonight.

Numb3rs

One of our favorite shows is Numb3rs. Its season premiere was this past Friday. We were unable to watch it Friday night, so we taped it. About ten minutes into the show, our local CBS decided to cut into the show so that we could follow the O.J. Simpson case. We could have caught the results of O.J.'s Las Vegas robbery/kidnapping case on the 11:00 pm news, immediately following Numb3rs. Instead, no one in our area was able to watch Numb3rs. Fortunately, CBS has full episodes on their website so we can still catch the show. But do we really need to spend 45 minutes of unscheduled news time speculating with lawyers and news anchors about the soon-to-be-announced verdict?

A Rare Agreement

The below article is from NewsMax. This is a first for us. We actually agree with something that leftist Alec Baldwin said.

An outspoken figure has publicly nailed the Democrats for their role in creating the credit crisis, particularly with regard to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Was it John McCain or one of his campaign aides?

No, believe it or not it was Alec Baldwin.

As part of a panel on HBO's “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Baldwin responded to co-panelist Garry Shandling’s finger pointing at Bush by saying, “…Democrats have a lot of the responsibility for this as well. I mean, it was [Bill] Clinton who killed the Glass-Steagall, and it happened under a Democratic president.”

After correctly citing the Clinton administration’s contribution to the crisis, Baldwin mentioned the bailout king himself, Barney Frank.

“Barney Frank and his committee,” Baldwin explained to the astonished Maher, “they kept propping up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac saying everything's fine, everything's fine, everything's good. And it was his job to know everything wasn't fine. And Barney Frank let you down and let us down as well.”

Baldwin went on to talk about the final bailout bill, stating, “I want to say there's blame to go both ways. But I will say, I want to, I maybe keep beating this to death, but I still think anyone in this Congress who voted to add $140 billion to that bill, they should be ashamed of themselves. That is a disgrace. It's a disgrace. This Congress is a disgrace, Democrat and Republican.”

The Terrorism of Barry Hussein (Obama)

For the life of us, we cannot understand why anyone would vote for Barrack Obama. Are people really so desperate for entitlement and social programs that they are willing to vote for a presidential candidate who has clear ties to terrorists like Bill Ayers and bullying, lying organizations like ACORN? It appears that this is the case. We have people in this country who will vote for socialism while voting away our constitutional rights and think nothing of dragging the rest of us down with them. The Race Race and A Dancer Exits

Another night of Dancing With the Stars has passed. Jeffrey Ross was the first to go and he needed to be. We give him credit for trying, but being a good tryer doesn't make him competitive.

The next to go should be Cloris Leachman. It's admirable that she's out there trying to dance at the age of 82, but this is a competition of the best dancer and she's not.

There are some very impressive dancers on the show this season. Brooke Burke and Lance Bass are doing a really good job, but there are several others who, with a little more work, could catch up. It will be a fun season.

On a Political Note:

Barack Obama's presidential candidacy has brought the race issue to the forefront of the race to the presidency. A person's race should have no bearing on whether or not we vote for him, but we're not naive; we do realize that there are still racists in the world and our country. That being said, though, doesn't it imply some kind of bigotry to assume that people won't vote for a candidate because of his race? Why can't the vote or lack of vote be because of the issues?

Truthfully, as indicated in the article below (see link), the only racism would be among the Democrat party because most Republicans are going to vote Republican anyway. It's the Democrats who are struggling with Obama's race. Barack Obama could be white, purple, or green and we still wouldn't vote for him. His beliefs are completely opposite of ours. We don't believe in any kind of socialism and Obama not only believes in socialism, he's willing to be the president who implements and oversees it.

We also take issue with any candidate who speaks in other countries, trying to appeal to their citizens, and then apologizes for our country's behavior. There are many liberals who think we ought to apologize for our very existence -- as if being free to pursue our own happiness is a crime.

France should be grateful to America, not despise it -- they could be speaking German right now. Even Germans should be grateful -- they could be living in complete communism right now. Instead the values that Americans believe in and live are coveted by righteous citizens of other countries.

Some people would say that our attitude is arrogant, but we disagree. Our attitude is called loyalty and that's all that holds this country together. When we observe our own citizens speaking in other countries about our transgressions and sins, we consider that person to be disloyal and divisive. And that's not a person who we want to be our leader.

There are many reasons why we would never vote for Barack Obama, but not one of them include his race.

Media Bias

Side by side interview questions of first interview by Charlie Gibson put to Barack Obama and Sarah Palin:

Obama interview:
How does it feel to break a glass ceiling?
How does it feel to “win”?

How does your family feel about your “winning” breaking a glass ceiling?

Who will be your VP?

Should you choose Hillary Clinton as VP?

Will you accept public finance?

What issues is your campaign about?

Will you visit Iraq?

Will you debate McCain at a town hall?

What did you think of your competitor’s [Clinton] speech?

Palin interview:
Do you have enough qualifications for the job you’re seeking?

Specifically have you visited foreign countries and met foreign leaders?

Aren’t you conceited to be seeking this high level job?

Questions about foreign policy

-territorial integrity of Georgia

-allowing Georgia and Ukraine to be members of NATO-NATO treaty

-Iranian nuclear threat

-what to do if Israel attacks Iran

-Al Qaeda motivations

-the Bush Doctrine

-attacking terrorists harbored by Pakistan

-Is America fighting a holy war? [misquoted Palin]

It was obvious during the interview that Charlie Gibson was biased against Sarah Palin. Not only did he look at her condescendingly, but he also misquoted her. When will the media pose these types of questions to Obama?

Hitler was a Community Organizer

In her RNC speech last week, Sarah Palin made light of Obama's work as a community organizer. Many people laughed at her comment because most of us don't know what a community organizer does and how it prepares a person to be president of the United States. Governor Palin expressed what many of us were already thinking.

The Democrat response to Governor Palin's statement was that Jesus was a community organizer; Pontius Pilate was a governor. The Democrats narrow-minded, ill-advised political rhetoric shows how little they think through their comments and how quickly their presidential candidate's campaign is imploding. Let us remind the Dem's that Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, the Democrat's favorite president EVER, were also governors. And, we must concede this part of their point to the Democrats, at least where Bill Clinton is concerned: Bill Clinton and Pontius Pilate have a lot in common. More than either one of them would probably want to admit. Can anyone say, "Look in a mirror?"

However, we take exception to the notion that Jesus was a community organizer. That horrifically belittles Jesus' earthly role. Jesus came to earth to save all of mankind, not just organize a community. He preached to the spiritually poor, but not necessarily the worldly poor, because His message was for everyone, regardless of race, gender, religion, politics, or wealth. Nor was Jesus' job a paid position -- contrast that to Barack Obama's job as community organizer.

Jesus didn't use His role to propel Him to a higher community or political position. He didn't need to: He already has the highest position.

The Democrat defense that Jesus was a community organizer actually gives credibility to the conservative talk show hosts who mockingly call Barack Obama "the Messiah". The Dem's proved that they really do think of Obama as Jesus, the Messiah, the Chosen One. Hey Dem's: Conservatives actually think that Jesus is Jesus.

The following link is to an article that states that Hitler was also a community organizer.

We will be writing any journalists who are using lies and biased opinions to drag Sarah Palin down. Below is the letter we are sending to Andrea Mitchell of NBC News for her comment that only uneducated women will vote for Sarah Palin. Please feel free to use all or part of our letter if you want to write a letter of your own.

Ms. Andrea Mitchell
c/o NBC News
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112

Dear Ms. Mitchell:

As part of the group of uneducated women voters supporting Sarah Palin, we want to inform you that we will no longer be able to watch any newscast of which you are part. Certainly, you have the right to say whatever you choose and, as “uneducated”, a.k.a. informed women, we have the right to change our television channels to actual news, not opinion commentary.

We must assume that elitist remarks like the one you uttered about uneducated women voters being the only ones who would vote for Sarah Palin indicates that you are a Barack Obama supporter. This conclusion leads us to believe that your future reporting will consist of your narrow-minded, biased opinion and not actual news, thereby making your comments untrustworthy and unreliable.

While we defend your freedom of speech, we do not support passing your opinions off as news. The American people are not as stupid and gullible as the liberal media seems to believe, and we are tired of slanted, biased, and partisan news reporting. Based on your improper statement regarding uneducated women voters, in the future we will assume that any news you are claiming to report is actually biased drivel and we will exercise our right to turn the television to a channel actually reporting news.

The Obamanable Barack

Barack Obama Quotes:

Political Quote of the Week - maybe the Century!

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me, as we try to CHANGE IT !"

-- Barack Obama

HUH?

*****************************

"Just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee -- which is my committee -- a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don't obtain a nuclear weapon." --referring to a committee he is not on, July 23, 2008

AND JOHN MCCAIN IS FORGETFUL?

*****************************

"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." --explaining his troubles winning over some working-class voters

IT SOUNDS LIKE HE'S FAMILIAR WITH BITTER.

*****************************

"Come on! I just answered, like, eight questions." --exasperated by reporters after a news conference

HMMM... DON'T U.S. PRESIDENTS HAVE PRESS CONFERENCES AND ANSWER MEDIA QUESTIONS? WE'RE JUST SAYIN'...

*****************************

"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed." --on a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people

IS THAT SOME KIND OF NEW MATH OR IS HE AS CLUELESS AS HE SOUNDS?
